On January 15, 2015, Viviane Joynes completed a 2,387-mile run that took her through six European countries. Although she only took up running a few years earlier, she eventually ramped up to 20-25 miles per day.
The idea for the run stemmed from a desire for change, challenge, and a way to honor her grandmother’s journey as a German refugee. As is so often the case in endurance sports, motivation almost always comes from the most personal of places.
