At age 67, Jane Treleven is still capitalizing on the speed that made her a high school middle-distance star a half-century ago in her native England. As a 2:15 800-meter runner in the 1960s, Treleven was selected to race for Britain in junior international track events in Canada and Scotland.
Two days before the Boston Marathon, 67 year-old Jane Treleven won the B.A.A. 5K women’s 65-69 division by more than 3 minutes in 21:50. She’s never run a marathon and puts in about 20 miles per week on the road. Yes, there’s something to be said for “quality over quantity.”
